Pony Club is a non-profit organization that teaches horsemanship and the care of the horse to young people through the age of 25. Pony Club is a worldwide educational organization that originated in Great Britain in 1928. The Unites States Pony Clubs (referred to as Pony Club or USPC) was founded as a non-profit national yough organization in February 1954. Although the name contains the word "pony", pony in this case does not refer to the size of the mount but more to the fun loving nature of the mount and his/her owner.

Today, there are over 625 Pony Clubs nationwide with over 13,000 members. Pony Club members usually range in age from as young as 5 to age 25. There is no absolute minimum age, although a child must be old enough to ride safety and participate in activities. There is a maximum age: The year a Pony Club member turns 25, they "graduate" at the end of the calendar year. Many Pony Club graduates become volunteers which are a vital part of Pony Club.

Through the USPC formal instructional program, a member will become a well- rounded horseperson capable of riding safely and tactfully on the flat, over fences, and in the open.

Parents play an important role in Pony Club. There are many areas in which parents are needed. They may share one of many roles within the Club circle, such as Club leader, chaperone, jump judge, or assist in activity events and fundraisers.
