Shoal Creek Pony Club has unmounted meetings once a week with a mounted meeting once a month. The unmounted meetings may be held at different locations while the mounted meeting is usually held at Edge of the Road Farm in Carthage, MO.

Pony Club members come to mounted meetings with their ponies for riding lessons, horse management instructions, mounted games and other activities which stress learning, safety and fun.

In addition, club members enjoy going to shows, clinics, trail rides and rallies together. The club also offers a summer camp in prepration for Midwest Regional Mega Rally.

There is also much to learn at unmounted lessons. Whether learning about how much feed your pony needs to learning about vaccinations, learning is done in a fun-loving environment.

A new program started this year is the Pony Club Achievement Badge Program. This program will allow members to earn badges while learning about their pony.

Meeting Minutes
Sponsor Meeting - September 27, 2008
The Sponsor Meeting was held Sept. 27, 2008 at Edge of the Road Farm. Roll call was taken and the sponsors present included Felicia, Jim, Donna and Karen. Other parents present were John, Maryellen, and Jeremy.

The meeting was called to order by Donna. The following items were discussed:

  • Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.
  • The DC's report was given by Donna which reviewed all the club activities for the past year.
  • The treasurer's report was given by Felicia. Ideas for fundraisers were discussed including purchasing items from www.horsetackco.com which will in turn donate 5% of the purchase back to SCPC as a credit to be used at their online store.
  • Dues were discussed, noting the increase from $10.00 for local dues to $20.00.
  • Officers were voted on. Donna - DC; Maryellen - Joint DC; Karen - Secretary; Felicia - Treasurer
  • Amendments to club policies were discussed and motions were passed on the following: 1. SCPC will pay expenses and entry fees for stable managers and coaches at regional rally. We want to encourage and make it possible for our older Pony Clubbers to be involved and willing to tackle these responsibilities. 2. We will pay the National corporate sponsorship fees for our DC and Co-DC. This will be $40.00 per position. 3. All policies and bylaws will now be more general when designating a place instead of referencing Shoal Creek Stables.
  • Upcoming events were reviewed including the Oct 25 Millcreek Combined Test, Nov 1 MDA Show and Nov 8 hunter/jumper show at Shadowbrook.
  • The Christmas Party was discussed and Maryellen volunteered to host the party.
  • Paperwork was collected for 2009 membership.
